Who created The Prayer Engine?

The Prayer Engine was developed by Eric Murrell, the Co-Founder of Media Salt and web strategist at a large multi-campus church.

After seeing the frustrations and limitations of the email prayer chains that many ministries rely on, Eric set out to develop an affordable tool that would be a better fit for the needs of a modern prayer ministry. The Prayer Engine provides consistency, moderation and sharing functionality that are light-years ahead of an email list, making it the ideal fit for your ministry.

Does The Prayer Engine Support WordPress?

**New!** Yes! If you're running a WordPress site, you can skip the normal Prayer Engine install process and use our new plugin (included with your download) to embed all* of The Prayer Engine's core functionality into the WordPress content management system that you're already familiar with. A hosted WordPress site running WordPress 3.3 or greater is required (sites hosted on wordpress.com do not allow custom plugins to be uploaded). The Prayer Engine plugin is also compatible with WordPress Multisite networks.

*The WordPress Plugin version of The Prayer Engine includes a responsive stylesheet for mobile compatible themes instead of a seperate web app.

How do I install The Prayer Engine?

Detailed installation instructions are included in The Prayer Engine's User Guide. Simply create a fresh MySQL database, upload the files to your server and run the one-step installation wizard. It only takes about five minutes for someone with basic knowledge of web hosting, domain names and MySQL. Watch the video walkthrough.

Can I customize the Prayer Wall?

The Prayer Wall is built to be easily customized by editing its Cascading Style Sheet. Simply follow the instructions in the included User Guide, and the Prayer Wall can be configured to match your branding in a matter of minutes. The Prayer Wall's source code is neatly organized and heavily commented, making it easy to slide it right into an existing template from your website. Even a beginning web developer should feel right at home customizing their copy of The Prayer Engine.

Can I customize the Mobile Web App?

Absolutely! Similar to your Prayer Wall, customizing the Mobile Web App is as simple as editing its Cascading Style Sheet. You can even add your own logo, app icon and loading screen by simply swapping out a few images. Looking good has never been this easy.

How can a user remove their prayer request?

When a user submits a prayer request, they immediately receive a confirmation email containing the details of their prayer request. This email also contains a removal link that gives them the ability to remove their prayer request from your Prayer Wall at any time with a simple click.

How does The Prayer Engine Integrate with Social Media?

The Prayer Engine includes several RSS Feeds and other functionality built specifically to share your prayer requests through social media.

When enabled in "Engine Settings," The Prayer Engine will collect a specially formatted prayer request that is saved for sharing on Twitter. Simply create a special Twitter account just for your prayer requests, and link The Prayer Engine's Twitter RSS Feed to the account using a service like TwitterFeed. The whole process takes just a few minutes.

In addition, you can automatically publish the latest updates from your Prayer Wall to any Facebook page. Simply log in to Facebook and edit the import settings under "Notes" using your Prayer Wall's RSS feed. Whenever an approved prayer request is added to your Prayer Wall, it will automatically be posted to your Facebook account in a matter of minutes.

Remember that one click from the administrative portal updates a prayer request everywhere; The Prayer Engine does the grunt work for you.

Does The Prayer Engine Support Email Subscriptions?

The Prayer Engine can be combined with the excellent (and free!) FeedBurner service to create a daily email blast of the most recent prayer requests. You can read more about FeedBurner email subscriptions through in the Feedburner FAQ.

Will The Prayer Engine work on my server?

Probably so; The Prayer Engine was built with popular open-source web languages that are already installed and supported by the majority of web hosting providers. Simply ask your hosting provider if they support PHP 5 (with the "pdo_mysql" extension) and MySQL; if they don't already have it installed, they will very likely install it for you since these technologies are free to use.

Can I use The Prayer Engine with my existing website?

Probably so; as long as your hosting provider matches the criteria above and your domain name is configured correctly (see your User Guide), The Prayer Engine should play along nicely with your existing site. However, we recommend installing it on a sub-domain (IE: prayer.yourministry.com) for the best results.

Can you install The Prayer Engine for me?

Yes, for a small fee. The Prayer Engine is designed to be easy-to-install for a beginning web developer. If you don't have a developer on staff (or just need some help), we can install The Prayer Engine for you as long as your hosting provider matches the criteria above. Can you customize The Prayer Engine for me?

I develop web sites for ministries... Can I resell copies of The Prayer Engine?

Yes, a licensed copy of The Prayer Engine may be resold to another ministry organization as part of a web package from you/your company. We require that one license is purchased for every domain/sub-domain that The Prayer Engine is installed on (see The Prayer Engine License for details). Discounted bulk-packs are available if you would like to regularly offer installations of The Prayer Engine to your clients.

The Prayer Engine may not be resold on its own, and individual components of The Prayer Engine may not be commercially distributed without prior written consent from Volacious Creative Media. Please don't steal.

Do I have to pay using PayPal?

Although we use PayPal to process our payments, you do not need a PayPal account to complete the checkout process. Once you reach the PayPal login page, simply locate "Don't have a PayPal account" on the left side of the page and click "Continue." You can pay using a Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card.

What about refunds?

As is typical with any piece of software, we are not able to issue refunds; all sales are final. Please be sure to thoroughly read the system and skill requirements before completing the purchase process.
